I'm glad 2007 is over

I mean sure, it is generally accepted as a lucky number but 7 (or '07 or 007 whatever you think sounds cooler) hasn't been a good one in many aspects. Global warming has been established as a real concern, all of research has started going in the direction of alternative fuel sources, and a lot of other random stuff.

Like the Red Mosque incident, or the Swat one, or the Balochi tribes crisis, or the clash with the judiciary and the resulting lawyer backlash, or the State of Emergency, or the trains that got derailed and hundreds who died, or Benazir Bhutto's murder (I refuse to call her 'Shaheed') and countless other random deaths and incidents caused by hooligans.

Or how my GPA has fallen compared to the previous year's, or how my sister has joined NUS, or that quitting smoking hasn't materialised as my previous new year's resolution: "I'll quit before the year is over (23:59, 31st December 2007)". Also a bunch of other random stuff I wish never had happened.

Wish I could delete all my blog posts from last year as if none of that had ever happened.

But it's done with!

It's over!

2008 is the new year and today is proof of it. A lot of people often wish they could rewind their lives and start from zero again. Well, today, 01-01 (1st January) could be that starting point.

You can use this chance to set new goals, and start planning about achieving them. And make sure they all lead (one way or the other) to love, career and recognition. What else does anyone want, really?

This year I intend to work on my grades so I graduate by the end of this year and kick the smoking habit along the way. That is a concise yet measurable goal right there.

So kick off your heels, do a little dance if you have to, look at your face in the mirror, smile, and tell yourself, "Happy new year!"

Happy new year to all! The new year still hasn't started in many parts around the world, so it's still early enough to wish.

So, I don't care what they say, Michael Jackson was a genius and here's proof of it right here (YouTube video: Off The Wall):

When the world is on your shoulder
Gotta straighten up your act and boogie down
If you can't hang with the feeling
Then there ain't no room for you this part of town
'Cause we're the party people night and day
Livin' crazy that's the only way

So tonight gotta leave that nine to five upon the shelf
And just enjoy yourself
Groove, let the madness in the music get to you
Life ain't so bad at all
If you live it off the wall
Life ain't so bad at all (live life off the wall)
Live your life off the wall (live it off the wall)

You can shout out all you want to
'Cause there ain't no sin in folks all getting loud
If you take the chance and do it
Then there ain't no one who's gonna put you down
'Cause we're the party people night and day
Livin' crazy that's the only way

So tonight gotta leave that nine to five upon the shelf
And just enjoy yourself
C'mon and groove, and let the madness in the music get to you
Life ain't so bad at all
If you live it off the wall
Life ain't so bad at all (live life off the wall)
Live your life off the wall (live it off the wall)

Do what you want to do
There ain't no rules it's up to you (ain't no rules it's all up to you)
It's time to come alive
And party on right through the night (all right)

Gotta hide your inhibitions
Gotta let that fool loose deep inside your soul
Want to see an exhibition
Better do it now before you get too old
'Cause we're the party people night and day
Livin' crazy that's the only way
